Type species. Echiodon drummondi Thompson 1837 View in CoL , by monotypy.

Diagnosis. Carapid lacking pelvic fins, rockerbone and cardiform teeth; with a ventral patch of tunic ridges on the posterior part of the swimbladder, numerous small distal radials supporting pectoral rays and one to several large, symphyseal fangs on the dentary and premaxillary.
