GENUS SYSTELLASPIS BATE, 1888 View in CoL
Systellaspis View in CoL is a relatively small genus, including only five named species ( Chace, 1986). The genus has been collected from depths ranging between 291 and 3292 m in temperate and tropical seas ( Chace, 1986). Poore (2004: 68) noted that at least one species of Systellaspis View in CoL can be easily confused with species of Acanthephyra . However, the vent-related records for the Acanthephyra are so far restricted to the MAR, whereas the sole sighting of Systellaspis View in CoL from a vent field has been the record from the EPR.
