Centris femoralis Friese, 1899 . 23: 43. Centris lutea Friese, 1899 . 23: 43.

Morphology. Female. Measurements: Approximately body length: 18.5; head width: 6.0; inter-tegular span: 5.5; forewing length: 14.0; UID: 3.8; LID: 2.8; mandible length: 3.2; mandible basal width: 1.7; labrum length: 0.8; labrum width: 1.8; F1 length: 1.2; F2 length: 0.3; F3 length: 0.4; scape length: 1.1; diameter of the median ocellus: 0.4; distance between the lateral ocellus and the eye: 0.8. Coloration: Integument dark brown to black, slightly lighter on legs ( Figs. 9 and 10 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Wing membrane dark brown. Sculpture: Clypeus coriaceus, with coarse and dense punctation at sides; disc shiny with an irregular and unpunctated longitudinal area in the middle. Labrum with dense and uniform punctation. Pubescence: Dark brown, except mesoscutum, mesoscutellum, axilla and anterior surface of tegula with intense yellow hairs ( Figs. 9 and 10 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ), slightly darker (almost brownish) on the disc of the mesoscutum in some specimens. Structures: Mandible with four teeth, along the fifth on the inner surface of the mandible. Apices of first, second and fourth teeth acute, third tooth wider than the other ones and with apex straight ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Trimmal angle almost straight. Acetabular carina reaching the base of the fourth tooth. Labrum relatively semicircular. Clypeal disc flat (lateral view). Inner orbits of compound eyes converging below ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Vertex above the upper ocular tangent. Secondary anterior comb of fore elaiospathe formed by two hairs. Primary basitibial plate ellipsoidal, secondary plate relatively rhomboid, well developed.

Male. Measurements: Approximately body length: 16.7; head width: 5.8; inter-tegular span: 5.8; forewing length: 15.2; UID: 1.8; LID: 2.5; mandible length: 2.0; mandible basal width: 1.2; labrum length: 1.0; labrum width: 1.8; F1 length: 1.1; F2 length: 0.3; F3 length: 0.4; scape length: 0.8; diameter of the median ocellus: 0.4; distance between the lateral ocellus and the eye: 0.3. Coloration: Integument dark brown, slightly lighter on legs; disc of clypeus yellow ( Figs. 11 and 12 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Wing membrane dark brown. Sculpture: Clypeus coriaceus with coarse and dense punctation at sides; disc shiny and unpunctated. Labrum with fine and dense punctation. Pubescence: Dark brown, except mesoscutum, mesoscutellum, axilla and anterior surface of the tegula with intense yellow hairs ( Figs. 11 and 12 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Claws of middle and hind legs with a tuft of long and plumose hairs at the base. Structures: Mandible with three teeth, the first with acute, second relatively rounded and the third tooth with truncated apex ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Trimmal angle acute. Acetabular carina reaching the base of the third tooth. Clypeal disc flat (lateral view). Labrum semicircular. Inner orbits of compound eyes converging above ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Distance between the lateral ocellus and the eye relatively equal to the diameter of the median ocellus ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Hind femur well developed ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 9 – 12 ). Pygidial plate absent.
