SPATHOGLOTTIS Blume View in CoL , Bijdr. Fl. Ned. Ind.: 400, 1825

Spathoglottis hardingiana C.S.P.Parish & Rchb. f. in H.G. Reichenbach, Otia Bot. Hamburg.: 45, 1878. Type:— MYANMAR. Kachin State: Bhamo District , cult. in Mawlamyine , Parish 352 (lectotype: K barcode K000829031 , designated by Ong & Farah 2017: 123; isolectotype: K barcode K000829032 )

Specimens examined:— KACHIN. Bhamo District : type. Also reported from Sagaing Region and Chin State by Kress et al. (2003: 88), but we have not seen material from these areas.

Distribution:— Myanmar, Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia.

Notes:— Parish 352 at K was previously also designated as lectotype by Seidenfaden (1986: 64), but no distinction between the two plants on the sheet was made (they were not barcoded at the time).

Spathoglottis lobbii Rchb. f. in Ann. Bot. Syst. (Walpers) 6: 455, 1862. Type :—? MYANMAR (or Java). Lobb s.n. (holotype: W-R 20656 ; isotype: K-LINDL)

Spathoglottis affinis auctt. plur. non de Vriese

Specimens examined:—? MYANMAR. Type. KACHIN. Myitkyina District: 27 Apr 2007, Kyaw Khaing 0077 ( TNS [s]) . MANDALAY. Myingyan District : fide Aung et al. (2020: 102; as Spathoglottis affinis ) . RAKHINE. Sittwe District : fide Clayton (2017: 79) . MON. Thaton District: Parish 368 ( K); Mawlamyine District : fide Clayton (2017: 79) . TANINTHARYI. Dawei District : fide Aung et al. (2020: 102; as Spathoglottis affinis ) . WITHOUT LOCALITY. Rule 619 ( K) .

Distribution:— Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina and Peninsular Malaysia.

Notes:— Spathoglottis affinis is distinguished by its comparatively broader and broadly rounded lateral lobes of the lip. Perhaps two subspecies should be considered. The type of S. lobbii was of uncertain origin (an isotype in K-LINDL is labelled Java), but the material belongs to the mainland plant and is again an example of the misleading origins often given by Lobb for his specimens .
