Distribution:— The eastern Himalayas, northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina and southwestern China.

Dendrobium bensoniae Rchb. f., Bot. Zeitung (Berlin) 25: 230, 1867. Type:— MYANMAR. Bago Region: Taungoo District, Benson s.n. (holotype: W-R 20936 , 20937 & 20938)

Homotypic synonym: Callista bensoniae (Rchb.f.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen . Pl. 2: 654, 1891.

Heterotypic synonyms: Dendrobium bensoniae Rchb. f. var. aurantiacum Rchb. f., Gard. Chron., n.s., 2: 6, 1874. Type:—ORIGIN UNKNOWN (? Myanmar). Cult. Bull s.n. (holotype: W-R 20938).

Dendrobium bensoniae Rchb. f. var. xanthinum Rchb. f. in B.S. Williams , Orch.-Grow. Man., ed. 7: 327, 1894. Type :— MYANMAR. Mon State : Mawlamyine District, imp. & cult. Williams s.n. (holotype: not located).
