Specimens examined:— MANDALAY. Pyinoolwin District : 1220 m, Samuel 13562 ( K).?RAKHINE. Rakhine Yoma: Mar 1903, Gage s.n. ( CAL). YANGON . Unspecified : type. MON. Mawlamyine District: type. WITHOUT LOCALITY. Cult. Singapore Bot. Gard. ex Murton s.n. ( W-R 16678 ) .

Distribution:— Myanmar, Thailand and Indochina.

Dendrobium vexabile Rchb. f., Gard. Chron., n.s., 21: 271, 1884. Type :— MYANMAR. Without locality: imp. with Dendrobium luteolum Bateman , cult. Low s.n. (holotype: W)

Homotypic synonym: Callista vexabilis (Rchb.f.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen . Pl. 2: 655, 1891.

Specimen examined:— WITHOUT LOCALITY. Type .

Distribution:— Northeastern India and Myanmar.

Notes:— Only Reichenbach’s sketch of this species seems to remain at W. One of us, PO, has seen material cultivated by Geoff Stocker from northeastern India where it was also discovered by Dr. A. Nageswara Rao (pers. comm.). The species is related to D. ruckeri Lindl. It is here regarded a natural species. However, previously it was interpreted as possibly being a natural hybrid of D. falconeri and D. ruckeri (Govaerts et al. 2020) .

Distribution:— Endemic.

Note:— Confused with material now referred to D. kontumense (syn. D. schildhaueri ) by Seidenfaden (1985: 112).
