Distribution:— The Himalayas, northeastern India, Myanmar, Vietnam and southwestern and southern China.

Dendrobium luteolum Bateman, Gard. Chron. 1864: 269, 1864 . Type :— MYANMAR. Mon State : Mawlamyine District, Parish 139 (holotype: K)

Heterotypic synonyms: Dendrobium luteolum Bateman var. chlorocentrum Rchb. f., Gard. Chron., n.s., 19: 340, 1883. Dendrobium luteolum Bateman subvar. chlorocentrum (Rchb.f.) H.J.Veitch, Man. Orch. Pl. 3: 57, 1888. Type:— MYANMAR. Without locality: cult. Williams s.n. (holotype: W-R).

Dendrobium luteolum Bateman var. superbum Rolfe, Orchid Rev. 3: 73, 1895. Type:— MYANMAR. Without locality: cult. Sander & Co. s.n. (not located).

Specimens examined:— MON. Mawlamyine District: type; same loc., cult. Low s.n. ( K). WITHOUT LOCALITY. Types; without collector s.n. ( AMES). Reported from Chin State and Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 74), but we have not seen material from these areas.

Distribution:— Endemic.

Note:— An attractive species that has recently reappeared in cultivation.
