TYPE SPECIES: Musca notata Fabricius, 1781 , automatic [by designation of the same species (by original designation) for Anoplomerus Rondani, 1856 ].

CURRENT STATUS: New replacement name for Anoplomerus Rondani, 1856 ; preoccupied by Wagler, 1830; junior synonym of Scellus Loew, 1857 [ teste Hurley (1995: 139) ].

FAMILY: DOLICHOPODIDAE .

REMARKS: See REMARKS under Anoplomerus above for details on the clarification of the type species. The relative priority of Scellus Loew, 1857 and Anoplopus Rondani, 1857 hinge on the actual date of publication within the year 1857. Loew’s (1857) work has been accurately dated as 6 April 1857 ( Evenhuis, 1992: 377). Rondani (1857) was published after 20 September 1857 ( Sabrosky, 1961; Evenhuis, 1997), thus Loew’s work has priority.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Antichaeta Haliday, 1839 .
