TYPE SPECIES: Blepharopoda pilitarsis Rondani, 1850 , by monotypy. CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Guimarães (1971: 36) ]. FAMILY: TACHINIDAE . REMARKS: The description of this genus-group name appeared first in Osculati (1850) and later in Rondani

(1851). The second edition of Osculati (1854) has exactly the same information as the original in

1850 but the description for Blepharopoda is found on page 240 in the 1854 edition instead of page

241 as in the original edition.
