44. Bellardia Rondani, 1863: 81 View in CoL [ 1864a: 81].

ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Tabanus albonotatus Bellardi, 1859 .

TYPE SPECIES: Tabanus albonotatus Bellardi, 1859 [= Tabanus oculus Walker, 1848 ], by original designation.

CURRENT STATUS: Preoccupied by Robineau-Desvoidy, 1863; junior synonym of Tabanus Linnaeus, 1758 [ teste Sabrosky (1999: 61) ].

FAMILY: TABANIDAE .

REMARKS: There are two original spellings of this genus-group name in Rondani (1863): Bellardia (page 81) and Ballardia (page 81). Acting as First Reviser, we select Bellardia as the correct original spelling, which relegates Ballardia (q. v.) to unavailable name status. Robineau-Desvoidy (1863) was published on 11 January ( Evenhuis et al., 2010b). Rondani (1863) has not been accurately dated but (based on receipts of it by Italian scientific societies in early 1864) is presumed to have been published late in the year 1863, and surely after Robineau-Desvoidy (1863).
