ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Micropalpus ornatus Macquart, 1843 ; Micropalpus brevigaster Macquart, 1846 ; Hystricia nigriventris Macquart, 1843 (as “ Microp. ... nigriventris del Macq.”).

TYPE SPECIES: Micropalpus ornatus Macquart, 1843 , by subsequent designation ( Coquillett, 1910: 528) .

CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Guimarães (1971: 61) ].

FAMILY: TACHINIDAE .

REMARKS: There are two original spellings of this genus-group name in Rondani (1850c): Cryptopalpus (page 169) and Chryptopalpus (page 196). Acting as First Reviser, we select Cryptopalpus as the correct original spelling, which relegates Chryptopalpus (q. v.) to unavailable name status.

EMENDATIONS: Criptopalpus Rondani, 1863: 94 (unjustified), n. syn.

CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Chrysogaster Meigen, 1803 ; junior synonym of Chrysogaster Meigen, 1803 . New synonymy.
