CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 293) ].
FAMILY: TACHINIDAE .
REMARKS: Although Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 293) gave the method of type fixation for Petagnia in Rondani (1856) as by original designation, they treated the type species as a nomen nudum . This is incorrect. The characters in Rondani (1856: 61) that make the genus-group name available serve to also make available Petagnia occlusa as the singly included species.
