CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Promachus Loew, 1848 [ teste Hull (1962: 460) ].
FAMILY: ASILIDAE .
REMARKS: Although a Palaearctic genus, Telejoneura was not found in Lehr (1988). Hull (1962: 460), following Coquillett (1910: 612), assumed this to be a new replacement name for Trupanea Macquart, 1838 . This is not the case. Dallas (1866: 652) and Hobby (1936: 276) clarified the situation that Telejoneura was being proposed for those species in Trupanea in the sense of Bigot (1857). However, Hobby erred in designating Erax completus Macquart, 1838 as the type species for Telejoneura , which is not an originally included species. The only originally included species for Telejoneura in Rondani (1863) is Trupanea cyprica Rondani, 1856 , which is currently treated in Promachus Loew. Thus , the type species is Trupanea cyprica Rondani, 1856 , by monotypy.
