ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Brachystoma longicornis Meigen, 1822 (as “ Brachistoma Longiocornis Mgn. ”).
TYPE SPECIES: Brachystoma longicornis Meigen, 1822 (as “ Brachistoma Longiocornis Mgn. ”), by original designation.
CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Sabrosky (1999: 312) ].
FAMILY: BRACHYSTOMATIDAE .
REMARKS: There are two original spellings of this genus-group name in Rondani (1856): Trichopeza (page 150) and Tricopeza (page 225). Acting as First Reviser, we select Trichopeza as the correct original spelling, which relegates Tricopeza (q. v.) to unavailable name status. Neave (1950: 276) misspelled Tricopeza as “ Tricopexa ... pro Trichopeza Rondani, 1856 ”.
