Pessacq 2010: 56 View Cited Treatment , 57, 59–61, figs. 1d–e, 2c–d, 3c–d, 4 (comparison with Epipleoneura angeloi View in CoL , illustration of cercus in dorsal and lateral view, genital ligula in ectal and lateral view, female pronotum in dorsal and lateral view, distribution map). Pessacq et al. 2012: 5 (included in list of Brazilian Protoneuridae View in CoL , new record for Tocantins State).

Specimens examined. 13 ♂, 1 ♀. Holotype ♂, Brazil, São Paulo State, Pirassununga, São Vicente River County, border with Passa Quatro County (about 21°59'45"S 47°25'37"W), leg. N.D. Santos & J.P. Machado, 15 xii 1948. 5 paratype ♂ and allotype ♀, same data as holotype. 1 ♂, Tocantins State, Araguatins (about 5°39′3″S, 48°7′26″W), leg. J. Hidasi, ix–xi 1963. 6 ♂ 1 ♀, Mato Grosso State, Diamantino, Paraguay River headwaters, Sete Lagoas Ranch (about 14°24'10'S 56°25'37"W), leg. J.M. Costa & L.O.I. Souza, 10 iii 2002.

Diagnosis. See under E. angeloi and E. manauensis . Epipleoneura williamsoni can be recognized by the following unique combination of characters: Male cercus with a dorsal and a ventral branch separated by a wide excavation, dorsal branch flattened, ventral branch rounded in lateral view, wide, slightly longer than half the length of dorsal branch; apex of paraproct surpassing level of apex of ventral branch ( Figs. 24 View FIGURES 22 – 24 a–c). The posterior margin of female pronotum ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 53 – 66 ) is unique within the genus, it has an erect triangular lobe on each side; middle section between lobes flat and low.

Distribution. Central and central-southern Brazil in São Paulo, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, and Bahia States (São Paulo, Pirassununga, São Vicente River County, border with Passa Quatro County, about 21°59'45"S 47°25'37"W). Central Paraguay.
