[hw, g, bf, s] || ZMH 824669 View Materials [w, bf, sf]” ( ZMH) .
Current Status. Valid species.
Remarks. Spaeth (1909b) described this species based on numerous specimens but did not select one
as the holotype. Therefore, all specimens must be considered syntypes. We have studied the series, and it is consistent. There is, therefore, no need for a lectotype designation. The ZMH specimen is of an unusual color ( Fig. 25 View Figs ), as it is not fully sclerotized; fully developed specimens are black with red spots on the elytra .
Discomorpha (s. str.) bernhaueri (Spaeth, 1909) ( Figs. 29–30 View Figs )
Oxynodera Bernhaueri Spaeth 1909b: 364 .
Type Localities. “W Colombia: Alto de las Cruces , San Antonio , Rio Vitaco [= Rio Bitaco], Villa Elvira ” .
Type Specimens Examined. Syntype: pinned, “COTYPE [pi, t, cb] || Coll. E. Ross | Berlin. N 113 [b, t, cb] || Rio Vitaco [hw, sf, w] || Columbia | W. Cord. | Fassl X08 [w, t, cb] || bernhaueri | m. cotyp. (male) [hw, w] || Bogota 1914 | Columbia [b, t, cb, sic! subsequently added] || Oxynodera [underlined] | Bernhaueri | 26.) Spaeth | Columbien [g, hw, sf, bf] || ZMH 823527 View Materials [w, bf, sf]” ( ZMH) .
Current Status. Valid species.
Remarks. Spaeth (1909b) described this species based on numerous specimens collected by Dr. A. Fassl in the western Cordillera of Colombia. Based on the specimens in Spaeth’ s collection, he labeled one specimen of each sex as the type and the remaining specimens as cotypes; therefore, all specimens must be considered syntypes. We have studied the type series, and it is consistent. There is, therefore, no need for a lectotype designation.
