Type Localities. “Brasilien: St. Catharina : Theresopolis ; Sao Paolo [ Brazil: Santa Catarina (Teresópolis); S~ ao Paulo]” .

Type Specimens Examined. Syntype: female, pinned, “ Coll. E. Ross | Berlin. N 113 [g, t, cb] || Cistudinella | Rossi m. ♀ | Spaeth det. | n. sp. cotyp. [hw & t, w, cb] || Campianas | S. Paulo [t, g, cb; sic! subsequently added] || Cistudinella | Rossi Spaeth . | 64.) Bolivien | ([illegible] - Boliven) [hw, g, bf, cb] || ZMH 824668 [w, bf, sf]” ( ZMH) .

Current Status. Synonym of Cistudinella apiata ( Boheman, 1854) .

Remarks. Spaeth (1923) described this taxon based on four specimens and stated that the types (one pair) and one additional female are in his collection and one female (cotypus) is in the collection of E. Ross. Since Spaeth did not select one of the specimens within the series as the holotype, all four specimens are considered syntypes.

Spaeth (1923) did not mention the locality of the specimen from the Ross collection. The original handwritten label by Ross has “ Bolivien ” on it, while there is another printed label that the specimen is from Campinas in Sao Paulo. As the latter label has the same design as the “ex coll.” label, we assume that the latter label is erroneous.

Until now, the description was considered to have been published in 1922. However, it appeared in the fourth issue of the first volume (for the year 1922) of Norsk Entomologisk Tidsskrift, which was released no sooner than 24 June 1923. Hence, the year is changed accordingly.
