Current Status. Synonym of Stolas verecunda ( Boheman, 1850) .
Remarks. Spaeth (1905) based this taxon on six specimens, four from Yungas de la Paz (his own collection) and one from each of the two other localities, from different collections. He did not select one as the holotype, therefore all six specimens are syntypes. The label with “ Sucre ” on it was added subsequently, as it has the same style as other labels in the E. Ross collection, and is erroneous; moreover, the species does not occur in Sucre. Borowiec (1999) synonymized S. lugens with S. verecunda . We have studied types of both nominal taxa, and we agree with the synonymy.
