Genus Kainomyces Thaxt.

Type species: K. isomali Thaxt.

Brief description

Monoecious. Receptacle multiseriate, cells II and III broadening and ± divided. Perithecia borne on uniseriate multicellular stalks; with an apical rostrum ( Fig. 6A–B , ro) and a subterminal outgrowth ( Fig. 6C , arrow). Perithecial outer wall cells numerous ( Fig. 6C ), more than five in each vertical row.

Remarks

The genus consists of three species, of which two in Europe, one in Denmark. The most recently described species is K. rehmanii ( Majewski 1990c) .
