Pachyopsis nigrifacis View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs 45 View FIGURES 45 −63)
Diagnosis. Head of male (Fig. 47) with frons black; pygofer (Fig. 49), with apex tapered, subacute; ventral process long, straight distally, reaching pygofer apex; aedeagus (Fig. 54) with preatrium produced ventrad; shaft apex tapered and acute.
Type locality. Parque Estadual do Guartelá , Tibagi, Paraná, Southern Brazil .
Measurements (mm). Length 6.4−6.6 (male), 7.4−7.5 (female).
Coloration. Male: body ( Figs 45 View FIGURES 45 , 46) uniform brown with venter yellowish brown. Head (Fig. 47) with frons black, eye and ocellus red. Pronotum with black irregular markings near anterior margin. Metatibia with dorsal rows with some macrosetae black.
Female: body ( Figs 55 View FIGURES 55 −57) uniform pale brown, without markings.
Description. Head (Fig. 47), in ventral view, frons surface rugose; maxillary plate produced ventrally as far as clypeus apex in both sexes. Forewing ( Figs 45 View FIGURES 45 , 46) bright, with veins elevated, sometimes with veinlets and\or extra cross veins near apex. Metatibia PD, AD and AV rows with 15−17, 11, 9−10 macrosetae respectively. Abdominal sternite II (Fig. 48) with internal apodemes narrow, slightly expanded apically, apex rounded. Other characteristics as in generic description.
Male terminalia. Pygofer (Fig. 49), with posteroventral margin straight; apex tapered, subacute; ventral process long, straight distally, reaching pygofer apex. Subgenital plate (Fig. 49) in lateral view, not reaching pygofer apex; in ventral view (Fig. 50) 5.2 times longer than wide. Connective (Fig. 51) stem with lateral margins strongly divergent apically; apex excavated. Style (Fig. 53) with blade slightly curved dorsally, slightly constricted on midlength; length from lateral lobe to apex 1.6 times longer than length from lateral lobe to base. Aedeagus (Fig. 54) with preatrium produced ventrad; shaft apex tapered and acute. Other characteristics as in generic description.
Female terminalia. Sternite VII with posterior margin slightly rounded, with very small V-shaped notch at middle. Pygofer (Fig. 58) 1.8 times longer than maximum height; apex acute. First valvifer (Fig. 59) as high as long; posteroventral angle broadly rounded. First valvula (Fig. 59) slightly higher near base than near apex, ca. 9 times longer than maximum height; dorsal sculpturing starting at mid-length; apical portion (Fig. 60) with ventral sculpture present only near apex, continuous with the dorsal sculpture, apex tapered and acute. Second valvula (Fig. 61) slightly higher apically than basally, ca. 10 times longer than high; apex (Fig. 62) with 3 rounded teeth inconspicuous. Second valvifer ca. three times higher than long. Gonoplac (Fig. 63) 4.5 times longer than high; dorsoapical margin long; apex tapered, subacute. Other characteristics as in generic description.

Paratypes: 4♂, 2♀: same as holotype ( DZUP) ; 1♀: “ Brasil, Paraná, S. [São] J. [José] dos\ Pinhais , 25º36’18”S \ 49º11’37”W 880m \ 18.XI.2016 Sweep\ A.C. Domahovski leg” ( DZUP) GoogleMaps .
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the head with frons black.
Notes. P. nigrifacis sp. nov., P. fasciatus sp. nov. and P. vicosensis Coelho are the only known species of Pachyopsis with the aedeagus with preatrium produced ventrad. Pachyopsis nigrifacis sp. nov. is easily recognized in having brown-colored males with frons black and aedeagus with apex tapered and acute.
