Material examined. MASSACHUSETTS: Worcester Co., Princeton , Mt. Wachusett , 8.vi.2014, em. 15.iii.2015, C.S. Eiseman, ex Prenanthes , #CSE1474, CNC564647 View Materials , CNC564648 View Materials (2♀) .

Host. Asteraceae : Prenanthes L.

Leaf mine. ( Fig. 122 View FIGURES 118–123 ) Initially linear, expanding to a blotch that engulfs most or all of the linear portion. Whitish with diffuse brown discoloration, which is darker in the linear portion. Frass is in scattered grains and small, irregular lumps. Feeding lines are evident in the blotch. Larvae are solitary, but three mines were found on a single leaf.

Puparium. Dark reddish-brown, formed outside the mine.

Comments. These large specimens (3.2 mm) are similar to Calycomyza gigantea (Frick) , whose host plant is unknown, but the orbit is entirely black, the parafacial mostly brown to brownish, the epistoma is more pronounced, the orbital setulae are sparser and the notum more shining. No Calycomyza is known from this plant genus.
