Notes:— Čelakovský (1883) described Teucrium montanum var. parnassicum based on a gathering from Mount Parnassus collected by Guicciardi in July 1855. Čelakovský noted that the plant from Parnassus is smaller, densely hairy, with narrow leaves, with smaller calyx and corolla and shorter calyx teeth than the typical T. montanum . According to Čelakovský (1883), when considering the overall variability of the present forms, there are not enough differences between the typical T. montanum and his newly described variety, and he therefore described it as var. parnassicum . Subsequently, this vaiety was raised to a species level by Wettstein (1889). The original material was collected also from Aglassan-Dagh ( Turkey). Wettstein noted that specimen completely correspond to those collected by Guicciardi from Parnassus. The original material of T. montanum var. parnassicum collected by Guicciardi is deposited at the herbarium S, and it fits with the description provided in the protologue. Hence, we here designate the specimen S-G 6069 as the lectotype of the name T. montanum var. parnassicum . The lectotypification of E. Bertels on the label of the specimen selected here as lectotype is not effective publication (Art. 7.10).
