Hemidactylus frenatus Duméril & Bibron, 1836

Material examined. Numerous specimens, some photographed Maninjau, Bayur, Kotobaru, and Lubuksao Province of Sumatera Barat, elev. 480 m.

Taxonomic comments. This species is monotypic. All observed specimens were typical of this species (see, for example, Manthey & Grossmann, 1997). Other specimens were observed in Jakarta, Java.

Distribution on Sumatra. Provinces of Aceh, Sumatera Utara, Sumatera Barat, Riau, Bengkulu, and Sumatera Selatan. Also the islands of Bangka, Engano, Nias and Simeulue, and Mentawai Archipelago and Riau Archipelago ( De Rooij, 1915).

Biology. This species is present on nearly all human dwellings fitted with a lighting device. Specimens were seen in August and November.
