Family ACTEONIDAE View in CoL incertae sedis
REMARKS. — Rudman (1971c) stressed the importance of anatomical characters to distinguish genera of Acteonidae . Several genera, such as Acteon , Rictaxis , Tomlinula , Inopinodon and Maxacteon can only be recognized on the basis of the radular morphology and not by conchological characters alone (Rudman 1971c). I have included in the section below all those species of Acteonidae for which correct generic placement was not possible because of the lack of anatomical information. However, in order to comply with the Code (ICZN 1999: Article 11.9.3.4), those species that are newly described herein are placed unambiguously but tentatively in combination with the generic name Acteon , which is placed in quotation marks to indicate this.
