TYPE LOCALITY: Russia, Tuvinskaya (Tuva), Kyzyl Mozhalyk .
DISTRIBUTION: The Altai Mtns and Tuva region, N Khubsugul Lake Valley, S Bailkal Lake Valley, and and nearby regions in NW Mongolia (see Rossolimo et al., 1988).
SYNONYMS: baicalensis, khubsugulensis, kosogol, olchonensis .
COMMENTS: Subgenus Alticola . Originally described as a species and then synonymized under the ubiquitous A. roylei . Listed as a separate species by Pavlinov and Rossolimo (1987) and revised by Rossolimo et al. (1988), who recognized kosogol and olchonensis as subspecies. Gromov and Polyakov (1977) considered olchonensis closely related to A. macrotis ; its status needs to be reassessed.
