TYPE LOCALITY: Iran, Persian Azarbaidjan .

DISTRIBUTION: SE Turkey, N Syria, N Iran, and Armenia and Azerbaijan (see Harrison and Bates, 1991).

COMMENTS: Subgenus Pallasiomys . A distinctive species ( Pavlinov and Rossolimo, 1987) that was reviewed by Harrison and Bates (1991). The Iranian population was reviewed by Lay (1967).
