TYPE LOCALITY: Uganda, Ruwenzori East, Mubuku Valley, 6000 ft .
DISTRIBUTION: NE and E Zaire, W Uganda, and Rwanda; limits unknown.
COMMENTS: Subgenus Hybomys . Originally described as a subspecies of H. univittatus by Thomas, lunaris is a separate species according to the biometrical analyses of Van der Straeten et al. (1986).
