TYPE SPECIES: Mus margarettae Thomas, 1893 .

COMMENTS: A Sundaic and Sulawesian endemic. Cranial, dental, and spermatozoal morphology suggested a distant phylogenetic link to Chiropodomys ( Breed and Musser, 1991; Musser and Newcomb, 1983); chromosomal data was ambiguous in assessing its closest relatives ( Musser, 1990).
