TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, Kepulauan Mentawai, Pulau Pagai Utara .

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from Pagai (Musser, 1979), and Siberut ( Jenkins and Hill, 1982) in the Mentawai Isis.

COMMENTS: The largest in body size of any described Chiropodomys , and possibly most closely related to C. major . Part of the rodent fauna endemic to the Mentawi Archipelago (see account of Leopoldamys siporanus ).
