TYPE LOCALITY: Burma, Mt Popa, 4961 ft .
DISTRIBUTION: Burma, Thailand, Cambodia (see map in J. T. Marshall, Jr., 1977a:431), and NW Vietnam ( Dao, 1978).
SYNONYMS: nghialoensis.
COMMENTS: Subgenus Pyromys . Dao (1966) described nghialoensis as a subspecies of M. platythrix , which at the time embraced the Indochinese shortridgei .
