TYPE SPECIES: Micromys agilis Dehne, 1841 View in CoL (= Mus minitus Pallas, 1771 ).

COMMENTS: Only one extant species is recognized by most workers, but at least five others are documented by Miocene ( Storch, 1987) and Pliocene ( Weerd, 1979) fossils. Whether the extant samples represent one or more species has yet to be resolved by critical systematic revision.
