COMMENTS: Phylogenetic affinities unclear, but among murines native to the Sunda Shelf, Palawanomys appears most closely allied to the cluster of genera that would include Rattus ; broader regional comparisons required before affinities can be determined ( Musser and Newcomb, 1983).
