Vandeleuria oleracea (Bennett, 1832)
status

Vandeleuria oleracea (Bennett, 1832) View in CoL . Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond., 1832:121.

TYPE LOCALITY: India, Madras, Deccan region .

DISTRIBUTION: Peninsular India, Sri Lanka (lowlands), Nepal to Burma, S China (Yunnan), Thailand (except peninsula south of Isthmus of Kra, 10°30'N), and Vietnam; probably occurs throughout Indochina.

SYNONYMS: badius , domecolus, dumeticola , marica , modesta , nilagirica , povensis , rubida, Sibylla , spadicea , wroughtoni .

COMMENTS: Chromosomal features vary geographically (see Winking et al, 1979, and references therein), as do chromatic and cranial traits; oleracea is possibly a composite of species, and despite Agrawal and Chakraborty's (1980) review of geographic variation, needs careful systematic revision.
