TYPE LOCALITY: S Ethiopia, Chilalo Mtns, Inyala Camp .
DISTRIBUTION: Ethiopia; endemic to the E plateau between 3000 and 4050 m.
COMMENTS: Inhabits the Afro-alpine moorland where it occurs with Arvicanthis blicki , Lophuromys melanonyx , and Tachyoryctes macrocephalus , which are also moorland specialists ( Rupp, 1980; Yalden, 1988).
