TYPE SPECIES: Oryzomys lugens Thomas, 1896 .

COMMENTS: Thomasomyine. Synonymized under Thomasomys by Osgood (1933c) and so followed by Ellerman (1941) and Cabrera (1961); generic status maintained by Gyldenstolpe (1932) and Gardner and Patton (1976). Level of recognition of Aepeomys requires phylogentic investigation involving other thomasomyines.
