TYPE LOCALITY: Argentina, Tucuman Prov., Sierra de Aconquija, 3000-4000 m .

DISTRIBUTION: NW Argentina.

COMMENTS: Variably placed with Abrothrix , usually as a subgenus (Cabrera, 1961; Reig, 1987), or with Akodon sensu stricto ( Gardner and Patton, 1976).
