TYPE LOCALITY: Chile, Isla Chiloe, mouth of Rio Inio .

DISTRIBUTION: S Chile and adjacent Argentina.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Abrothrix (see Osgood, 1943, and Reig, 1987). Pine et al. (1979) urged further study of its differentiation from A. longipilis .
