TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Baja California Norte, San Martin Island .

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.

STATUS: IUCN - Endangered.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Neotoma . Listed as nominal species of N. lepida group by Goldman (1932); also see Mascarello (1978).
