TYPE LOCALITY: Venezuela, Edo. Sucre, 24 km W Cumanacoa, headwaters of Rio Never!, 2400 ft .

DISTRIBUTION: S Venezuela and Guyana.

COMMENTS: Type species of Daptomys , considered a junior synonym of Neusticomys by Voss (1988).
