TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Tamaulipas, El Carrizo, 70 km (by highway) S Ciudad Victoria and 6 km W Panamerican Highway, 2800 ft .

DISTRIBUTION: Moist forests of S Tamaulipas and adjacent San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

COMMENTS: Revised by Huckaby (1980) as part of the mexicanus species group ( sensu Hooper, 1968b ). Departs from conservative karyotypic pattern exhibited by species of the mexicanus group ( Robbins and Baker, 1981; Smith et al., 1986); provisionally assigned to the furvus species group by Carleton (1989).
