TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Veracruz, Mirador (as restricted by Hooper, 1952:140) .

DISTRIBUTION: S Tamaulipas and WC Michoacan, Mexico, south through Middle American highlands to W Panama; Andes of W Colombia and N Ecuador.

SYNONYMS: cherrii , costaricensis , garichensis, goldmani , howelli, jalapae , lucifrons, minusculus , ocotepequensis, orinus, potrerograndei, riparius , scansor.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Aporodon , mexicanus species group.
