TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Jalisco, Mascota, Mineral San Sebastian .

DISTRIBUTION: W Mexico, from S Nayarit south to E Oaxaca.

SYNONYMS: atratus , colimae , inexoratus, ischyrus .

COMMENTS: Removed from S. hispidus and reinstated as species by Zimmerman (1970); also see Severinghaus and Hoffmeister (1978) and Elder and Lee (1985). Limits of geographic distribution need refinement.
