TYPE LOCALITY: "mountains near Chilpancingo, Guerrero, Mexico " (altitude 10,000 ft) .

DISTRIBUTION: Highlands of Estado de México, Jalisco and Oaxaca to Chiapas ( Mexico), and WC Guatemala.

SYNONYMS: alticola, euryrhynchis, fossor, frontalis , griseoventris, guerrerensis, machetes.

COMMENTS: Choate (1970) recognized two distinct subspecies, alticola and goldmani .
