Euphorbia gumaroi Meyrán (2000: 68) View in CoL .

Lectotype (designated here):— MEXICO. Mexico City: cultivated plants collected by Gumaro Manzo “al norte de Tepatepec , mpio. Francisco I. Madero, Hidalgo,” November 1996, J. Meyrán 5745 ( ENCB barcode ENCB008582 !) .

This rare, dwarf succulent is endemic to central Mexico. In the protologue, Meyrán indicates that the holotype is a collection of his (#5745) in the Herbario Nacional de México (MEXU). He doesn’t cite any isotypes or paratypes. According to the authorities of MEXU (Gerardo Salazar Chávez (curator) and María del Rosario García Peña (head of the type collection), pers. comm. 2023), Meyrán’s holotype was never accessioned and likely never delivered to the herbarium. Thus, the only known specimen is Meyrán 5745 labeled as an isotype in the herbarium of the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas in Mexico City (ENCB). In the absence of the holotype, this is designated the lectotype.
