Ancylomenes anthophilus ( Holthuis & Eibl-Eibesfeldt, 1964)

Diagnosis. Rostrum dorsally with 6 seldom 7 teeth, ventrally unarmed but for one to three small, often inconspicuos denticles near the tip. Carapace with antennal and hepatic spines. Mandible without palp. All maxillipeds with exopods. First pereopods reaches with the fingers beyond the scaphocerite. Second pereopods are strong, they are practically equal in length, but slightly unequal in shape. They reach with part of carpus beyond the scaphocerite. Third to fifith pereopods with bifid dactyli. Telson with 2 pairs of very small dorsal spines and 3 pairs of spines on posterior margin.

Distribution. Western Atlantic: Bermuda (Whalebone Bay), Colombia (Santa Marta), Brasil (Pernambuco [Fernando de Noronha]) ( Figure 1 ) ( Criales, 1984; Holthuis & Eibl-Eibesfeldt, 1964; Coelho-Filho, 2006; Alves et al., 2008).

Material examined. None.

Ecological notes. The species is found at depths between 2 and 70 m. Associated with anemones Actinia bermudensis , Bartholomea anulata and Condylactis gigantea . Also known as a fish cleaner ( Criales, 1984; Coelho- Filho, 2006; Okuno & Bruce, 2010).
