Conops punctum Bigot, 1887: 45 View in CoL ; type-locality: “Pays...? Amér. merid.?”; syntypus 2♂ 2♀ [BMNH]
Camras (1996) states that the syntypes of Physocephala punctum View in CoL do not belong to any Nearctic species, contrary to the locus typicus given in the original description: “Pays...? Amér. merid.?”. Camras did not identify the species and therefore P. punctum View in CoL should be treated as a nomen dubium until such time as the type material can be investigated.
