This population may be conspecific with the Hot Creek Falls Hydroscapha , as the two populations are morphologically very similar. They share the character of the wide tentorial bridge and rounded lateral points of the mesosternal disc, and differ significantly only in the shape of the disc of the mesoventrite. The disc in the Kirkham population is 1.2× as wide as long, whereas the disc in the Hot Creek Falls population is 1.8× as wide as long.
