Bryoleuca albimixta (Sugi, 1980)

(Plate 1, figs 7–8; gen. fig. 3)

Bryophila albimixta Sugi, 1980 , Tyo to Ga 30 (3–4): 190, figs 5, 16. Type locality: Korea, Cheju [=Jeju] Island, Kwaneu Musa.

Diagnosis. Bryoleuca albimixta is easily separable from the other members of the species-group by the intensive whitish irroration in the basal and marginal areas and in and around the reniform stigma, in addition, the deep brown hindwing is the darkest within the lineage. The most conspicuous feature of the male genitalia is the distally strongly dilated and rather quadrangular valva that is considerably broader than in B. granitalis . In addition, the terminal cornutus of B. albimixta is shorter, the basal bulb of the vesica is smaller and less globular, the ampulla is somewhat shorter and less pointed, and the juxta is larger, broader than in its close relative. The three other species of the lineage have, besides other differential features, different armature of the vesica: the terminal cornutus of B. orthogramma and B. volodia is acutely pointed and not serrate-dentate while in B. parva the terminal cornutus is reduced but the walls of the vesica are mostly covered by fine spicules.

Distribution. The species is known only from the Korean peninsula including the island Jeju and the Russian Far East (extreme south of Primorye territory; Kononenko 1990, 2005).

Remarks. The type-locality was erroneously stated to be in Japan by Poole (1989).
