Chrysobothris socialis Waterhouse

This species was described from the State of Durango, Mexico, from one specimen of unspecified sex. One of us (WFB) has long suspected that specimens collected in the U.S. attributed to this species represent a different taxon. We now consider it to be subspecifically distinct.
