Notes. Beamer (1937b) separated the two taxa here treated as synonyms based on slight differences in coloration and the proportions of the aedeagal shaft and processes. These differences appear to intergrade among and within populations, and therefore do not seem sufficient to justify continued recognition of the taxa as distinct species. Consistent morphological differences, including body proportions and the shape of the basal abdominal apodemes of the males, were not found. As noted above, the male genitalia of N. davisi View in CoL appear to be identical to those of N. balli View in CoL . These two taxa may eventually be found to be color forms of a single, widespread species. Nevertheless, they appear to be distinguishable based on traits described in the key. More collecting and analysis of molecular data may help determine whether N. balli View in CoL and N. davisi View in CoL are truly distinct species.
